The Open Conspiracy
This is a guidebook on world control and management, a program that Wells believed should be orchestrated (and would be successful) through what he called the "Open Conspiracy." This conspiracy is fully outlined in this work and is designed to be run by many separate organizations working together, as opposed to being run by just one group. Is this required reading for the world‘s most powerful people? Maybe it is. Or maybe it should be. Wells was a visionary and genius whose work should be paid attention to. Chapters include The Idea of the Open Conspiracy, We Have to Clear and Clean Up Our Minds, The Revolution in Education, Religion in the New World, What Mankind Has to Do, Modern Forces Antagonistic to the Open Conspiracy, The Resistances of the Less Industrialized Peoples to the Drive of the Open Conspiracy, The Open Conspiracy Begins as a Movement of Discussion, Explanation and Propaganda, Development of the Activities of the Open Conspiracy, Human Life in the Coming World Community, and more.
Classics Illustrated
One of H. G. Wells s most visionary tales, The Island of Dr. Moreau relates the disturbing tale of Pendrick, a shipwrecked naturalist who unwittingly discovers a horrific scientific and social experiment that is creating a mutant race of hideous creatures, half-human and half-beast. Terrifying and spellbinding, Wells s masterpiece warns of the catastrophe that could result when man recklessly tampers with nature. Eric Vincent s artwork vividly summons up the nightmarish life in Dr. Moreau s tortured world.
A Modern Utopia (Penguin Classics)[现代乌托邦]
Although best known for his scientific romances that paved the way for the modern science fiction genre, H. G. Wells (1866-1946) produced significant works on politics, society, science and history. Thanks in part to his teacher, T. H. Huxley, Wells became quite interested in the works of well known scientists like Charles Darwin, and admired their ability to imagine and think beyond their times. When writing his 1905 novel, "A Modern Utopia", Wells drew upon Darwinism to trace humanity's evolution and create something like a world state on a distant planet that is identical to Earth. This novel, which blends fiction and philosophy, presents a socialistic Utopian society, in which the whole world shares a common language, capital punishment has been abolished, there is gender equality, and every individual shares the plan for "comprehensive onward development". While acknowledging that a modern Utopia is essentially impossible, Wells comes close to such a world in this fascinating and eerily prophetic novel.
The Red Room
H.G. Wells has widely been considered the quot;Father of Science-Fiction, quot; having invented the alien invasion genre with The War of the Worlds; the time-travel adventure with The Time Machine; and created iconic mad scientists with The Invisible Man and The Island of Dr. Moreau. nbsp; The Red Room is the account of the terrifying nocturnal experiences of a young man who volunteers to spend a night in the haunted red room at Lorraine Castle.

The History of Mr. Polly
Herbert George Wells (1866-1946), known by his pen name H. G. Wells, was an English author, best known for his work in the science fiction genre. He was an outspoken socialist and a pacifist; his later works becoming increasingly political and didactic. "The History of Mr Polly" covered lower middle class life.
A Short History of the World
Although best known for his scientific romances that paved the way for the modern science fiction genre, H. G. Wells (1866-1946) produced significant works on politics, society, science and history. Fascinated as much with the real world as his imaginary one, and displeased with the quality of history textbooks at the end of World War I, Wells took on the task of writing his own book of world history. In 1919 he published "The Outline of History," a 1,324-page book in three volumes, which he soon followed with the much shorter and highly popular work, "A Short History of the World." This condensed work is a monumental account of the physical, spiritual, and intellectual evolution of the human race, and chronicles key events of humanity's development. More importantly, Wells brings to light the continuity of history, and provokes thoughts on the future implications of our scientific and intellectual progress.
The Sleeper Awakes
A troubled insomniac in 1890s England falls suddenly into a sleep-like trance, from which he does not awake for over two hundred years. During his centuries of slumber, however, investments are made that make him the richest and most powerful man on Earth. But when he comes out of his trance he is horrified to discover that the money accumulated in his name is being used to maintain a hierarchal society in which most are poor, and more than a third of all people are enslaved. Oppressed and uneducated, the masses cling desperately to one dream that the sleeper will awake, and lead them all to freedom.
The Country of the Blind and Other Stories
Herbert George Wells was perhaps best known as the author of such classic works of science fiction as "The Time Machine and War of the Worlds". But it was in his short stories, written when he was a young man embarking on a literary career, that he first explored the enormous potential of the scientific discoveries of the day. He described his stories as "a miscellany of inventions," yet his enthusiasm for science was tempered by an awareness of its horrifying destructive powers and the threat it could pose to the human race. A consummate storyteller, he made fantastic creatures and machines entirely believable; and, by placing ordinary men and women in extraordinary situations, he explored, with humor, what it means to be alive in a century of rapid scientific progress.

A Dream of Armageddon
A Dream of ArmageddonThe man with the white face entered the carriage at Rugby. He moved slowly in spite of the urgency of his porter, and even while he was still on the platform I noted how ill he seemed. He dropped into the corner over against me with a sigh, made an incomplete attempt to arrange his travelling shawl, and became motionless, with his eyes staring vacantly. Presently he was moved by a sense of my observation, looked up at me, and put out a spiritless hand for his newspaper. Then he glanced again in my direction.About H. G.
